Kingdom of the Unjust: Behind the Saudi-U.S. Connection

“I think it is important to understand the underpinnings of our relationship with Saudi Arabia and how we can move forward in a path that takes us away from the regime and towards supporting the real democrats in that country.” -Medea Benjamin, Author and co-founder of Code Pink.

Medea Benjamin will be discussing her new book, “Kingdom of the Unjust: Behind the U.S.-Saudi Connection”, all this week in Boulder and Denver. Benjamin’s book talks about the history  of the U.S. relationship with Saudi Arabia and the impact it has had on the Middle East and the United States.

KGNU’s Maeve Conran talks with Madea Benjamin about this relationship. Benjamin tells of the many ways that the U.S. is supporting Saudi Arabia with weaponry and logistics even as the Saudis wage war on other countries and promote extremism throughout that region of the world.

“Unfortunately what we see from the new appointees is this tremendous cabal that is anti-Iran…[w]e should be very concerned that this is a group that might get us into yet another war in the Middle East on the side of the Saudis.”

Benjamin also talks about what the election of Donald Trump and his cabinet appointments could mean for the future of U.S. involvement in the Middle East. This is a topic she will also be addressing in her public appearances in Colorado this week.
