The Gavin Worland Big Band
Founded in 2022, the Gavin Worland Big Band is a 19-piece jazz ensemble comprised of the most talented young musicians in the Denver metro area. This band is on the cutting edge of the large jazz ensemble genre pushing boundaries while highlighting the immense talent of the ensemble’s writing, arranging, and performing skills. The GWBB has performed with regular sell-out shows at Denver’s top jazz club, Dazzle, for over a year as well as other venues and festivals such as the Roots Music Project, the Mercury Café, the Five Points Jazz Festival, and many more.
The Gavin Worland Big Band was created and run by Gavin Worland, a Denver-based trumpeter, composer, arranger, orchestrator, producer, copyist, and educator currently finishing his master’s in jazz performance at the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver. Heavily inspired by Steven Feifke, Remy LeBouef, and Quincy Jones, Gavin writes inspiring, fun, progressive music for the ensemble while keeping the traditions and qualities of big bands from before alive.
The GWBB is proud of its personnel is comprised of the finest students from Colorado-based colleges and universities such as Metropolitan State University of Denver, University of Colorado, University of Northern Colorado, Colorado State University, and the University of Denver. Most members of the band are regularly playing with their bands and draw upon their fellow musicians within the Gavin Worland Big Band for other gigs and projects as well.
