Nominations For Colorado Women’s Day 9th Annual Awards

March 8 @ 8:50 am - 2:10 pm MST

Nominations are due on January 26 for the ten categories of awards to be presented at the 9th Annual International Women’s Day – Colorado Women’s Day conference co-presented by the West Metro Chamber of Commerce and the IX Power Foundation. Featuring a keynote talk by Sarah Thomas, world-champion swimmer, cancer survivor, and inspirational speaker, the event runs from 9 am to 2 pm. The event was started with the grass-roots efforts of local women, and is sponsored by the City of Golden, Denver7 TV news station, Intermountain Health, and IX Power Clean Water. It is a long-recognized event by the International Women’s Day committee.

Thus far, corporate luncheon tables are being sponsored by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), the Jefferson County Library Foundation, and CHAIN – the Colorado Health Advocacy Information Network. Sponsorships and tables are still available for the March 8 event.

To be held at the Marriott Denver West complex, the Colorado Women’s Day celebration which runs from 9 am to 2 pm is part of the global celebration of International Women’s Day held every year. The event includes panel discussions of interest to women, networking, business consultations, shopping, and the luncheon which includes a keynote speaker, and of course the awards presentation. Online nomination applications are available at: ColoradoWomensDay.org.

Women are also encouraged to nominate themselves. While women who have been previously recognized with other awards are encouraged to apply, Colorado Women’s Day is particularly seeking out those women who have made impactful contributions in their field or to the community and have gone unrecognized for their work in the past. Nominations for all the awards can come from any member of the public. Any woman residing anywhere within the state of Colorado for at least the last six months can be nominated, and no membership in any club or organization is required. All finalists, along with their organization or business, will be announced in advance of the Colorado Women’s Day event. All nominators will be entered in a drawing to win free tickets to the event.

History
2024 will mark the ninth year that International Women’s Day has been celebrated in Colorado with Colorado Women’s Day. The event is managed by the 501c(3) nonprofit IX Power Foundation and Premier Events by Melissa Estepp. In many countries around the world, this is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic, or political. International Women’s Day first emerged at the turn of the twentieth century in North America and across Europe, and the first time it was observed nationally in the U.S. was in 1909. The Charter of the United Nations, signed in 1945, was the first international agreement to affirm the principle of equality between women and men. For more information visit: ColoradoWomensDay.org.
