Matt Wertz with guest Andy Davis at Roots Music Project

April 28 @ 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm MDT

Come see singer-songwriter Matt Wertz at Roots Music Project! Known for his heartfelt lyrics and melodic hooks, Wertz’s emotive folk/pop.

Matt Wertz

A self-made singer/songwriter, Matt Wertz spent years creating soulful, feel-good pop music on his own terms. Nashville — a city that doubled as his muse and adopted hometown — always played a big role in that creation process. It was the place where Wertz wrote his songs, the place he recorded his albums, the place he’d return after touring the country with songwriters like Jason Mraz, Maroon 5, Parachute and Gavin DeGraw.

More than a decade into a career filled with commercial success and touring milestones, Matt Wertz remains proud to be an independent singer/songwriter. But don’t mistake Gun Shy for the sort of intimate album you’d hear at your local coffee shop. These are not acoustic guitar songs. They’re songs built on laptops and driven forward by dance beats. Songs that move you physically and emotionally. Songs that splash Wertz’s super-sized hooks across the backdrop of the Los Angeles skyline, creating their own brand of scenery along the way.

Andy Davis

Louisiana-born Andy Davis broke onto the scene in 2004 with a charming, acoustic debut called “Thinks of Her,” that quickly spread among college campuses nationwide.
Based in Nashville then, Davis starting touring full-time, sharing the stage with artists such as Jakob Dylan, Colbie Caillat, Matt Wertz, needtobreathe, Dave Barnes and more.

Since then, Davis has released seven studio projects, including two produced by Mitchell Froom (Sheryl Crow, Crowded House, Randy Newman), one of which was made possible by a Kickstarter campaign that raised over $40,000 in 30 days.
Davis was also a founding member of Nashville’s “Ten Out of Tenn” — a critically-acclaimed collective of singer/songwriters (including Katie Herzig, Griffin House, Andrew Belle, K.S. Rhoads, etc) who joined forces in super-band fashion for a collaborative tour, documented in the award-winning PBS film, “Any Day Now,” and going on to perform at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.

A multi-instrumentalist with old-school charm and a pulse for the often irregular heartbeat of human relationships, Andy Davis continues to engage longtime fans and win new ones.
