Map in the Dark

May 5 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm MDT

Resonance concerts are always attempts to pay attention, to meet the moment. In this moment, we choose beauty, with messages of warmth, connection, and empowered voice. Choral singing offers a kind of existential reassurance that we cherish.

The concert title, Map in the Dark, comes from words by Jan Richardson in a piece by Susan LaBarr: “the luminous line of the map in the dark …”

Another favorite this season is The Lost Words Blessing: “Walk through the world with care, my love, and sing the things you see…”

The big piece on this program is One With the Wind, with libretto by Larissa FastHorse and music by David O. The voice of one woman is joined by the inner circle of family, then the extended circle of community, and then the world community, in a sonic tour de force with messages of personal resilience and solidarity.
