Gobs O’Phun: Annual St. Pat’s Concert & 30th Anniversary Celebration & Album(s) Release Party!

March 16 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm MDT

Gobs O’Phun has been spinning their homespun living room ambiance with that of a romanticized Irish pub experience for 30 years, welcoming audiences as though they’re sharing an evening in the family living room – an insight to the band’s origin.

Their brand of Irish music is not comprised of jigs and reels with whistles, fiddles or pipes (save their infamous thingamabagpipe, “Bagmonica”). Their name comes from being primarily vocalists, as “gob” is slang in the isles for your mouth. Brothers-in-law Denis Sullivan and Martin Lambuth offer a selection of traditional Celtic folksongs through seasoned harmonies, backed by guitar, bodhran, harmonica, and signature humorous banter.

The Gobs sing songs that tell stories, so you don’t need Celtic ancestry to appreciate their songs. The stories cover just about every eventuality, themes that can resonate with any cultural background – life, death, love, marriage, oppression, loss, triumph, freedom, self-acceptance and amusing observations, to name a few. You may even hear a drinking ditty, or two.

The Gobs string it all together with historical notes, audience participation and off-the-cuff repartee. Their music will charm audiences of all ages and send everyone off with a feeling of good cheer. When you’re talking gobs of fun, it’s all about having fun on both sides of the microphone.

So, buy your tickets early and often (they sold out in advance in 2023!) and be prepared to laugh, clap, stomp your feet, sing along and leave in the afterglow of having fully experienced an evening that is truly ‘gobs of fun’!

A few highlights:

• 2002: Invited to play at the Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah (the only Colorado band to perform)

• 2008-2009: 5th place in the Denver Channel 7 A*List competition for Best Local Band

• 2012: Mentioned in the book, “Irish Denver”, by Dennis Gallagher, Thomas Jacob Noel, James Patrick Walsh
