An Evening With Wellington Bullings presented by KGNU and March Forth @ Roots Music Project

March 10 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm MDT

“Blossom” Music Video Watch Party & Album Fundraiser

KGNU and March Forth presents:

An Evening With Wellington Bullings

“Blossom” Music Video Watch Party & Album Fundraiser

Soulful singer/songwriter Wellington Bullings offers the premiere performance of her forthcoming second album, “The Only Dream.” This exquisite suite of new material showcases Wellington’s remarkable growth in the nearly four years since her debut release, “Because I Want To.” The audience can expect to hear a refined maturity in her songwriting and artistic vision. In celebration of what’s to come, there will also be a private screening of her new music video “Blossom,” after the performance.

Accompanied by guitarist, producer, and collaborator Tim Wendel, Wellington takes her audience on a soulful exploration of self empowerment, healing, love, and overcoming self doubt. With a sultry voice compared to the likes of Sade and an emotional depth akin to Nina Simone, this performance is bound to be an inspirational one.

The event will take place at The Roots Music Project on Sunday, March 10th. All proceeds from this intimate performance will go toward the completion of “The Only Dream,” due for release later this year. While most of the album is recorded, your generous support will provide Wellington with the additional funding required to bring this “Dream” to reality, including:

•Recording expenses
•Paying musicians
•Mixing and mastering
•Vinyl pressing

WELLINGTON BULLINGS

Wellington Bullings adds a soulful touch to everything she sings. Her music is a balance of classic soul, R&B, and Jazz. With a rich sultry voice and a natural elegance, it’s easy to see why she is making a name for herself in the world of Neo Soul and beyond.
Wellington’s debut album titled, ‘because I want to’ was released in July, 2020. The project featured all original material touching on themes of empowerment, love, heartbreak, and soul searching.

‘Because I want to’ received positive reviews from local and national press. In a recent interview, magazine American Songwriter wrote in an article about Wellington; ‘with the technical skill to bolster her innate talent for music, Bullings is an artist to watch.’ Sound In Review called her ‘one to watch for creating a pop-jazz sound that is modern, sexy, expressive, and genuinely conveyed’, while 303 Magazine has described her voice as ‘full-bodied’ and ‘decadent.’
Recently, Wellington released a single titled ‘flame,’ that explores themes of black excellence and offers a positive narrative to the black community, after the racial injustices that resurfaced in 2020. The project was coupled with an impactful music video that featured collaborations with local black artists and creatives. The song has been placed in a documentary about racism, titled “this is [not] who we are.”

The Berklee College of Music alum, Wellington Bullings continues to hone her skills by writing music and performing regularly in her hometown. She plans on releasing her second album in 2024.

March Forth

March Forth was created in memory of Julietta “Jules” Laurita who died tragically on March 4, 2019, at age 19.

Jules had endless music in her, a fierce sense of justice, and an insatiable desire to connect across differences. One of her many quotes that she created and lived by is:
“Learn from each other, decide for ourselves…”

For all of us who love her and her illuminating spirit, the loss is immeasurable.

March Forth’s ongoing mission is to keep Jules’s memory alive through projects that cultivate and affirm the independent thinking, resilience, compassion, and creative expression of young adults and teens through the arts.

A young woman of incredible spirit and talent, Julietta was a gifted singer, songwriter, musician, dancer, and actress. Julietta was a passionate artist who leaves behind a legacy of compassion and creativity.

Julietta’s physical life ended on March 4, 2019. Her spirit lives on; in her words, her music, and her endless compassion for others, and in this organization, March Forth, that embodies her talent for collaborating with other young people to share their creativity with the world that she sadly no longer lives in.
