Juneteenth Celebration in Denver

The Denver Juneteenth Festival happens on June 16th. Chris Banks, Marketing Vice President of Mile Hi Festivals which hosts the annual event, speaks with KGNU’s Tish Beauford.

We hear about the historical significance of the worldwide Juneteenth celebration honoring the official day that slaves were emancipated and freed in the United States and the involvement and impact of the Denver Community.

Chris began his involment in organizing the Juneteenth Music Festival with Norman Harris in 2012 continuing the Denver Annual Celebration from their predecessor from radio station/owner personality Daddio. In 2014, they formed a partnership in 2014 to form JMF Corporation. Chris was appointed as Marketing VP with Mile Hi Festivals and the JMF Corporation serving on the board of directors with Norman Harris, Miguel Taylor, and Chiniqua Jackson.
