Denver’s established Guerrilla Garden artist, Jolt, has created a mural at the Broadway Underpass (located on the Boulder Creek Path near Broadway and Canyon Boulevard).
Artist and graffiti writer, Jolt, is a leading figure in Denver’s art community. He established Guerrilla Garden, a studio that, at one time, served as an educational center and hub for emerging artists.
“My art is created of the street and based off the street and comes from the graffiti culture.”
The mural was paid for by the City of Boulder’s Parks and Recreation Department and the project is supported by the City of Boulder’s Office of Arts and Cultural Services. Jolt says that it is important that communities create space like this where people can make art.
“Let’s give people the canvas to go out and create their own work and out of that we can create this social commentary based off the art, but you also can cultivate the creative lifestyle and give people an opportunity to be artists themselves.”
The mural is a temporary public art project and is expected to be on display for approximately one year.
