Gabe Evans Says no Crime

Republican Congressman Gabe Evans says Governor Jared Polis isn’t doing enough to curb crime but Evans would not ask President Donald Trump to send the national guard to the state.

Congressman Evans is up for reelection in Colorado’s swing district the 8th CD north of Denver. In an interview with the Colorado Capital News Alliance, Evans says Democrats in charge of state government are soft on crime but that it’s clear federal troops can’t engage in policing absent very specific guidelines and exceptions.

And so you have to have state governors involved anytime that there’s a National Guard, uh, deployment for a policing action, which of course brings us right back to the fact that we have a governor who is unwilling to engage in making, uh, communities safe, uh, and unwilling to, uh, allocate the resources necessary.

President Trump is sending national guard to Democratic run cities, he says to combat crime. Evans is calling for a special session. Governor Jared Polis says the state has passed laws and reduced crime but  blamed the federal government for withholding critical funds.

Again, that report comes to KGNU from the Colorado Capitol News Alliance…

CO Approval against regulating 5 air toxins

Colorado’s clean air advocates won a vote to regulate more lesser-known contaminants this past week. The state’s Air Quality Control Commissioner enshrined rules on the pollutants Friday, but the Colorado Newsline reports that the unanimously agreed upon new rules will have to be reviewed by state legislature and won’t affect permitting for at least another year.

The Newsline also reports that these rules come after the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has come under scrutiny for being soft major corporate pollutant powerhouses and bending state regulations for their gain. The Commissioners controlling the new regulations opted for less stringent rules than those endorsed from activist efforts, the less stringent rules were endorsed by oil and gas developers according to the Colorado Newsline.

The new rules regulate the following pollutants: Benzene, Hexavalent chromium, Ethylene oxide, Formaldehyde, andHydrogen sulfide. All of the chemicals had activists and community members testify to the health risks of exposure, but those same activists said the rules didn’t go far enough to protect Coloradans.

The CDPHE who argued for a more stringent “hazard quotient” said the current decision would not provide “ample margin of safety, particularly for vulnerable groups.”
