As 2019 comes to a close during this busy holiday season, most of us have been celebrating with our loved ones and friends reflecting on our accomplishments of the past year and looking ahead to future goals for 2020.

However, we must not forget the men, women and children who are homeless and without proper food, clothing and shelter. Surviving this very dangerous existence every day has been escalated by economic inequalities and pre-existing classicism which has increased the number of homeless people not only in Denver, but statewide and throughout our country.

The homeless crisis has also been magnified due to the steady rise of the number of deaths that are occurring due to the lack of sufficient shelters, emergency and re-entry housing for our displaced population.

Currently there is new and existing local and federal legislation that is being reviewed and implemented to address the local and nationwide homeless crisis. Tish Beauford speaks with Benjamin Dunning, a 50 year Denver resident and founder of Denver Homeless Out Loud. He joins us on “A Public Affair” in studio to discuss the state of affairs of homeless legislation and advocacy initiatives in a 2019 year-end review.
