Hemispheres: Steve Fisher & Maxine Burkett

Tonight on Hemispheres, Elena Klaver hosts two discussions.

First, she spoke with Steve Fisher, a journalist at the University of California at Berkeley School of Journalism.  He is the co-author, along with Anabel Hernandez, of a series of articles on the Mexican government’s complicity in the disappearance of 43 students at a teacher’s college in Ayotzinapa, Guerrero, Mexico, as well as other mass disappearances.  Anabel Hernandez is the award winning Mexican journalist who wrote Los Señores del Narco, published in English as Narcoland.

Next, Elena Klaver spoke with Maxine Burkett, Associate Professor of Law at the University of Hawai’i, who is an expert on the law and policy of climate change.  She was the director of the Center for Island Climate Change Adaptation and Policy and is on the board of directors of Global Greengrants.
