Aquaponics is a food production system that combines aquaculture (raising fish in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment. Aquaponics uses 90% less water than conventional farming so it’s gaining popularity in Colorado where after years of drought people are looking for ways to conserve. H2O Radio visited three locations using the method not only for its environmental benefits, but for its social ones as well.
