Since 2019, golden retrievers and their owners have gathered in Golden, CO, from across the world to celebrate the joy of dog ownership. KGNU’s Lily Sharp attended Goldens in Golden this year. She spoke with three owners about their pups and their experience at the event.

Ellen and Allie, a duo from Longmont, CO, were matching in all magenta. They soaked in the festivities, from shopping to photo-ops and food trucks.

“ It’s been a big day,” Ellen said. “We walked along the creek, and she stepped in the water, but I think it was a little too cold, so she didn’t go swimming.”

Misty, Sergeant, and their owner, Cheryl, were in the middle of the action, collecting treats and pets as the afternoon passed.  The connection between these dogs and their owners is visible from a mile away. There is immense joy and connection felt at Goldens in Golden.
