Gifted: Is there an alternative to consumerism at Christmas?

Tis the season to shop…and shop and shop and shop…this time of year tends to be an orgy of mass consumerism, from Black Friday right through the end of the year. But Warm Cookies of the Revolution, a civic health club in Denver are hoping to change the conversation. They’re hosting an event this Wednesday called Gifted which will feature a discussion that will explore the complex issues that surround buying local and handmade, as well as from global corporations.

Evan Weissman, one of the organizers of the event says the goal is to have a real dialogue around what it means to be a consumer.
