Earth Day is right around the corner, on April 22nd. We Coloradans are lucky to live in such a nature-forward state, with lots of exposure to the great outdoors.
But, just because we can walk barefoot on fertile land or look up at the Flatirons, doesn’t mean we inherently have access and knowledge to go any further.
That’s where local orgs like Garden to Table come in. It’s a nonprofit that works with elementary schools in Boulder Valley to run on-site school gardening programs.
It’s also Garden to Table’s 20th anniversary as an organization this year, and they’ve got lots in store to celebrate.
To learn more about the work this local org does, and the potential power of environmental stewardship programs, KGNU’s Jackie Sedley spoke with Courtlyn Carpenter – Garden to Table’s Community Outreach Director and Garden Manager.
The two spoke about the benefits of school gardens which include children’s health, education and environment.
