Exploring Bus Rapid Transit Between Longmont and Boulder

This is the beginning of an 18-month study to examine what BRT should look like along the Diagonal Highway and how much it would cost.

The meeting began with RTD project manager Chris Quinn laying out some statistics about the highway, including the fact that between 28,000 and 58,000 vehicles travel the Diagonal every day. With the populations of Front Range cities growing, that number is expected to grow.

About 80 people attended the meeting at the Longmont museum and they were invited to give their input into what they’d like to see happen along the highway. Some people expressed skepticism about RTDs ability to deliver on this…given the history of the long ago promised train to Longmont. KGNU’s Brian Litwin spoke to some of those attending the meeting last night.

There is a second meeting on BRT happening Thursday November 16th in Boulder at 6 p.m. at the Boulder Chamber, 2440 Pearl St.
