Anyone with experience or understanding of trauma knows that our bodies keep the score. We carry our lived experiences with us, and healing isn’t always attainable solely through talk therapy and mental processing.

Research shows movement therapy can be an incredibly helpful tool to work through trauma and get more in touch with your physical body.

Lucy Wallace is the founder of Dance to Be Free, a nonprofit organization that teaches dance classes to people who are incarcerated.

Their annual fundraiser is tonight at 6:30 p.m., at Junkyard Social Club in Boulder.

KGNU’s Jackie Sedley sat down with Wallace to learn more about the work she does.
