Election Day is less than two weeks away. KGNU has been providing you news you can use to take with you to the polls on November 5 – or to help you make informed decisions when filling out your mail-in ballot.

Today, we’ll be focusing on Initiated Ordinance 309, a measure that you’ll see on your upcoming ballot if you live in Denver. If passed, the measure would prohibit the construction, maintenance, or use of slaughterhouses in Denver starting January 1, 2026. The ban would also require the city of Denver to provide workforce training or employment assistance programs for affected workers.

KGNU’s Jackie Sedley was joined via Zoom by one individual advocating for voters to say YES to Initiated Ordinance 309, and one advocating for NO votes.

Natalie Fulton is with Pro Animal Future, a Denver-based grassroots organization that started the initiative for 309.

And Robin Kniech represented the Stop the Bans, Project Jobs campaign opposed to 309. Good morning, Robin.
