Cleavers: Naturally KGNU News
On this week’s Naturally, KGNU’s resident herbalist, Brigitte Mars, discusses galium aparine, or cleavers. Cleavers are sticky, fast-growing weeds with hooked hairs, known for clinging to clothing and fur.
The above-ground portion of the plant is used as a medicinal herb, especially known for its lymphatic cleansing properties.
It helps to break up stones like kidney stones and gallstones. Generally, herbs that like to grow in the rocks and in rock gardens are often good for breaking up stones.
Naturally airs every Wednesday on the Morning Magazine, KGNU’s weekday morning show, featuring local and regional news, headlines, and commentary. Click here to listen to full episodes of the Morning Magazine.
