Clarence Moses EL: Conviction Vacated

In 1987 a Denver woman was raped and beaten so badly that she lost the use of one eye.  In the immediate aftermath, the victim identified to police three men she had been drinking with as her possible attackers. None of those men were investigated because, a day and a half later, the victim told police that her neighbor Clarence Moses-EL attacked her. The victim said that his identity had come to her in a dream and it was on the basis of that dream that a jury convicted and sentenced him to 48 years in prison.

Moses-EL has maintained his innocence from day one and earlier this week a Denver district court judge vacated his conviction.  Susan Greene with the Colorado Independent has followed Moses-EL’s case for the past 10 years, read her coverage here.
