Civic Action Calendar: Week of June 25 KGNU News
The Civic Action Calendar is a weekly summary of actions and events hosted by community-based organizations across the Front Range.
This week’s edition will also highlight local pride month celebrations. June is recognized as Pride Month across the globe, highlighting the continued resilience and cultural influence of the LGBTQ+ community.
Today, Thursday June 25 from 5:30pm – 8:30pm, TASHCO will host Thornton Pride at the Harley Brown Amphitheater in Thornton.
Organizers say it’s for families, friends, allies, and neighbors, and will include live entertainment, food vendors, artists, and family-friendly activities. There will be booths with organizations including an opportunity to register to vote at the Indivisible booth. More info at thorntonco.gov.
Tomorrow, Friday, June 26, Rocky Mountain Equality will host a 50+ Pride event from 4pm – 7pm at the Equality Center of the Rocky Mountains in Boulder.
It’s their annual mixer for LGBTQ+ folks and allies 50 years of age and older. They say younger partners are also welcome to join, and food and drinks will be provided. More info and RSVP can be found at RMequality.org.
Saturday, June 27 from 2pm-4pm, Indivisible Table Mountain will host Resistance Singing in the Park: Singing for Justice
Organizers say to join the fun, talented group of committed members for songs that inspire and encourage. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair, instrument and your voice. No prior experience necessary, and everyone is welcome. More info at indivisibletablemountain.com.
Saturday, June 27 Lyons Pride will host their Pride celebration from 2pm – 5pm, at Sandstone Park in Lyons.
It will be followed by a drag show at 6pm at the A Lodge. More info at LyonsCOpride.org.
This Saturday, June 27th is Denver’s Pride 5k run, continuing a month of The Center on Colfax’s Pride celebrations, and leading up to Denver’s flagship pride events on June 28th.
The race will take off Saturday from the Cheeseman Park Pavilion located on the east side of the park. Registration can be found online at denverpride.org.
On Sunday, June 28th the Center will host Denver Pridefest.
It will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a parade at 17th Ave and Franklin St. Then, the day of celebration continues with a downtown celebration on 16th street between Broadway and Lawrence street. It will include food and signature Latin Stage, The Gayborhood, and the youth and family area
On Sunday, June 28th from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Together Colorado, a faith-based community Justice super group, will be holding their annual meeting in Denver.
The event will bring together faith-based organizations and various community-action groups from across the front range to foster collaboration and hope. Details and location can be found by RSVPing for the event at togethercolorado.org.
