City Council Member Junie Joseph Joins Other Speakers at Boulder BLM Rally

On Saturday morning, thousands of people in Boulder came out in support of Black Lives Matter. Close to two thousand people gathered and listened to 5 speakers before marching together down Pearl Street towards the Dairy Center chanting slogans and wearing face covers.

Junie Joseph, a member of Boulder City Council, told a mostly young crowd to not believe people who tell you that change is impossible.

Joseph said when she was a candidate she was told, “it was going to be impossible for a student to run for city council and win it was impossible, it was impossible for a black women to win city council because there is not enough people black people that would vote for you, there is not enough renters that would come out and vote for you but look out and see that change is possible… we have to find allies in each other…”
