“Centering Palestine is recovering democracy”: Learn about today’s National Day of Action from two of the organizers

Bill Mullen is one of many scholars helping to organize a Day of Action today, Thursday, April 17th. Mullen is part of the Organizing Collective for the Coalition for Action in Higher Education.

Schools and labor unions around the state and across the country will host teach-ins, demonstrations, walkouts, and more to advocate for students, staff, and faculty in higher education.

Much like other local and nationwide protests, this action is inspired by federal attacks.

KGNU’s Jackie Sedley spoke with Mullen and Karim Mattar to learn more. They’re both members of the Organizing Collective for the Coalition for Action in Higher Education. Mattar is also an associate professor of English at CU Boulder, and Mullen is retired faculty at Purdue University in Indiana.

A full list of actions you can take part in today can be found here. There are in-person actions, as well as online webinars, including virtual teach-ins.
