Carbon Neutral Cities Alliance Meets in Boulder

Starting September 6th officials from 26 cities from around the world come together in Boulder to talk about the challenges they face as they get to carbon neutrality.

It’s the first time that a US city has hosted the Carbon Neutral Cities Alliance which has a global goal of cutting emissions by 80% or more, by 2050 or sooner.

Johanna Partin , Director of the CNCA, told KGNU’s Susan Moran that Boulder was chosen as the host city because of many of the carbon neutral initiatives it already has in place like municipalization and working to get to 100% clean heating and cooling systems.

Kendra Tupper, Chief Sustainability and Resilience Officer for the city of Boulder says the city is on track to reach its 80 percent emissions reduction goal, part of the climate goals adopted in 2016.

CNCA is hosting a public townhall meeting from 7-9pm on Thursday September 6th at Etown hall. The event is sold out but it will be streamed live at Etowns website.
