Booktalk: Michael Benanav’s “Himalayan Bound”

In “Himalayan Bound: One Family’s Quest to Save Their Animals–And an Ancient Way of Life” New Mexico-based Michael Benanav travels to northern India to journey with the Van Gujjars, a tribe of forest-dwelling nomadic water buffalo herders during their annual spring migration into the Himalayas. See photos of the journey.

Benanav’s earlier book, Men of Salt, chronicles his crossing of the Sahara in a camel caravan.
