Booktalk: Deborah Rodriquez and “The Kabul Beauty School”

This American hairdresser’s 5-year life in Afghanistan began as a member of a disaster relief organization soon after the US invasion. Though the rest of the team were medically trained, she found her calling there when she was bombarded with requests for haircuts as the Taliban had forced beauty schools to go underground.  Deb published this book a decade ago, her latest title is “Return to the Little Coffee Shop of Kabul,” and the US is still in Afghanistan.
