It was 30 years ago, when Diana and Gene Korte decided they wanted to spend time working together on a new project at KGNU. The project was called, simply, Booktalk, and was meant to be a bite-sized ten minute segment in a market that, at the time, was saturated with much longer author interview shows.
Their formula proved prophetic in a changing media world, as over the course of three decades, Diana hosted hundreds of author interviews, while Gene worked tirelessly to keep Booktalk a tight segment week in and week out. The couple’s passion which combines author interviews along with travel have brought Diana and Gene to unforgettable places at home and abroad and have created unforgettable experiences for the KGNU audience.
After 30 years, Diana and Gene Korte signed off from Booktalk on KGNU one final time. They will continue to interview authors on their podcast, Booktalk with Diana Korte, available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
KGNU’s Veronica Straight-Lingo had the pleasure to sit down with Diana and Gene to talk about the legacy of Booktalk and how it all began.
