Mathew Klickstein talks about his new books, and on bookstores as community spaces

Bookstores have faced many threats over the years, with the rise of e-books especially. Just last summer, The Tattered Cover went out of business, and was purchased by Barnes & Noble.

Still, many people – including myself – love a good book store. They really activate your senses – so much to see, read, touch.

They can also act as a community space – and that’s how Mathew Klickstein sees them.

Klickstein is a multi-platform storyteller. He’s lived in the Boulder area on and off since 2010. He also freelanced for The Daily Camera, worked with the Dairy Center for the Arts and Conference on World Affairs, and helped establish  a program by which clients with disabilities would be able to develop and program and broadcast their own productions through KGNU.

He has two new books out, and will be doing a book tour of sorts around Colorado with them. KGNU’s Jackie Sedley spoke with Klickstein about his adventures in bookwriting and comic book making. He started by telling them about his first book out now – Daisy Goes to the Moon.
