Local author and journalist Clay Bonnyman Evans is the only living grandson of Alexander Bonnyman Jr., a Marine 1st Lieutenant who was posthumously awarded the medal of honor after he was killed in action in Tarawa in the Pacific in World War II.

Evans connected with an organization History Flight, which is committed to recovering hundreds of Marines who have long been lost to history. Through their discoveries on Tarawa, Evans was able to reclaim the true history of his grandfather who was a charismatic but complicated hero.

Clay Bonnyman Evans will speak about Bones of My Grandfather – Reclaiming a Lost Hero of WWII on Wednesday July 11th at 7.30pm at the Boulder Bookstore and on Thursday July 12th at 7pm at the Tattered Cover on Colfax in Denver.
