Slavery is a practice that persists into the present day, albeit in the shadows; behind the bars of prisons, the closed doors of private homes and within the walls of brothels. In Nepal, caste-based barriers impeding social mobility put “untouchable” Badi women at acute risk. But storytelling can be a tool for breaking down those barriers while raising awareness at home and abroad.
