Vail-based author and former school teacher Heather Mateus Sappenfield dropped by the Morning Magazine ahead of her book presentation Thursday, February 17th at the Boulder Book Store. The middle grade novel portrays how two girls process different forms of loss. Main character Rill has recently lost her father in an accident and Perla is unsure what happened to her parents after an immigration raid. Ultimately, it’s a story about empathy and solidarity.
