Atomic America

“How do you capture this in images? Why doesn’t the nuclear age have its Michael Angelo doing last judgements? Because it’s a profound issue and affects everyone.”

James Crnkovich’s latest photo book Atomic America depicts the Cold War’s people, places, and things that flourished in the atomic age in the USA. Photos document the Cold War obsession with all things nuclear from Minute-man Missile Silos and Presidential Fallout Shelters to Atomic Laundries, Mushroom Cloud-Shaped Vegas Hotels, and Nuclear Test Site cops and protesters.
