Allies Series: Toward Right Relationship with Native Peoples

This edition of the allies series, which offers thoughts on how we can act as allies to groups who are currently facing political attacks (i.e., virtually all marginalized groups), explores the question of how non-Native folks can act as allies to Native peoples. Janis Bohan and Glenda Russell talk with Jerilyn DeCoteau (Turtle Mountain Chippewa) and Paula Palmer of the Right Relationship Project about their work together and the role of allies in the movement to secure legal and social rights for Native peoples. As Boulder faces fracking interests and begins to confront its relationship with the Arapaho, there is much to be learned about resilience, hope, engagement, and re-connecting with respect for indigenous ways and culture. Join with Ava Hamilton, Arapaho spokesperson for Boulder; BVUUF activists and youth; and the filmmakers for the film discussion of the Navajo youth project and social change and light fare potluck dinner.
