Jan 5th Afternoon News Programming Changes

On January 5th, KGNU made some changes to our afternoon news line up.

These changes are described below, scroll down the page for a layout of the 3:00-6:00pm weekday and Sunday news and public affairs programming. Click here to see KGNU’s current full schedule.

Monday through Friday:

  • BBC News Hour moves from 4.30-5.30pm to 5pm-6pm.
  • Community Public Radio will no longer be broadcast at 5.30pm but will remain at 5.30am Tuesday through Friday.

Monday:

  • Ralph Nader Radio Hour moves from 3.30pm-4.30pm to 4pm-5p
  • From 3.30pm-4pm  we broadcast The Shortwave Report.

The Shortwave Report is a weekly 30 minute review of international news and opinion in English, recorded from a shortwave radio and the internet.

Tuesday:

  • Democracy Now! moves from 3.30pm-4pm to 4pm-5pm
  • From 3.30pm-4pm we broadcast Making Contact

Making Contact is a 29-minute weekly magazine/documentary-style public affairs program produced by an independent, non-profit organization committed to investigative journalism, in-depth critical analysis, the promotion of civic participation and the dissemination of educational material.  Making Contact is currently broadcast on KGNU on Sundays at 4.30pm.

Wednesday:

  • Democracy Now! moves from 3.30pm-4pm to 4pm-5pm
  • From 3.30pm-4pm we broadcast Between the Lines.

Between the Lines is a weekly independent half-hour news magazine featuring progressive perspectives on national and international political, economic and social issues.

Thursday:

  • Thom Hartmann moves from 3.30pm-4pm to 4pm-5pm.
  • From 3.30pm-4pm we broadcast TUC radio.

TUC Radio is a weekly half hour show, formerly aired on KGNU, that features speakers such as Michael Parenti, Helen Caldicott and Vandana Shiva.

Friday:

  • The Tavis Smiley Show moves from 3.30pm-4.30pm to 4-5pm
  • FSRN moves from 5.30pm to 3.30-4pm.

Sunday:

  • Making Contact moves from its current 4.30pm slot on Sunday to Tuesday afternoons
  • In its place we air Peace Talks Radio.

Peace Talks Radio is a weekly half hour show which talks about making peace in our daily lives as well as to provide information on topics that relate to a more peaceful world – locally, nationally and globally.
