Videos released today by the Hans Meyer Law Office show Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arresting people on immigration charges at the Lindsey-Flanigan Courthouse in Denver.
Last month, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock sent a formal letter to Immigration and Custom Enforcement, asking the agency to respect the long-standing practice of staying away from certain “sensitive areas,” including schools and courthouses.
The letter also asks ICE officers to stop identifying themselves as “police” saying that it creates confusion and alarm in immigrant communities.
The entire Denver City Council, District Attorney Beth McCann, City Attorney Kristin Bronson, Denver County Court President Judge Theresa Spahn and Denver Public Schools Superintendent Tom Boasberg all signed the letter.

One of the videos released today by the Meyer Law Office shows the arrest of a man on April 28th at the Lindsey Flanigan Courthouse where he was appearing on a misdemeanor traffic violation. The man and his girlfriend, who shot the video in three segments on her phone, wish to remain anonymous, the law firm said.
The man reportedly is now in an immigration detention facility in El Paso, Texas.

Kim Jong Un has taken aim at Cory Gardner after the Senator from Colorado called the North Korean leader a “whack job” in a TV interview last week.
Gardner described Kim Jong Un as a crazed maniac at the helm of one of the world’s nuclear regimes, trying to become a nuclear regime, during an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.
Days later, the North Korean leader responded through the Pyongyang’s Korean Central News Agency, saying the Republican senator had “perpetrated wicked blasphemy”.
The statement went on to describe Senator Gardner as a man mixed in with human dirt like Gardner, who has lost basic judgment and body hair.”

The exchange comes amidst increased tensions over North Korea’s test of a ballistic missile. Congress is working on getting new sanctions against North Korea approved.
