On today’s edition of A Public Affair, host Tish Beauford sits down with Nadine Bridges, a 20-year community activist who has dedicated herself to working with and advocating for marginalized communities. Bridges is committed to racial equity, social justice, and anti-oppressive movements. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the College of Charleston and her Master of Social Work from the University of Denver along with a Certificate for Social Work with the Latinx Community.

During her two decades of advocacy, Nadine has been a professor, director, counselor, mentor, volunteer, and activist. She has been an outspoken champion of fairness and equality for all colors of humanity, specifically for those who are most vulnerable and left unprotected due to socioeconomic disparities and prejudice.

Her life’s work since she was a child was to always to impact lives and help those who could not help themselves. This journey of tireless activism and giving a voice to those who could not speak or were not listened to has led Nadine to make history on January 19th, 2021, to become the first woman and first Black person to be the Executive Director for One Colorado, the state’s leading LGBTQ advocacy organization.

Nadine discusses her historic role at One Colorado as a Black woman, social and economic justice, the current legislative and community projects the organization is working on and PRIDE 2022. Nadine lives in Denver with her wife, Liz of almost 9 years.
