After hours and hours of campaigning, the Cats Aren’t Trophies (CAT) campaign has successfully gained enough signatures to reserve a slot on the 2024 general election ballot.

This November, voters in Colorado will decide whether the hunting of mountain lions and bobcats should be banned in the state. This comes after proponents turned in enough signatures for it to appear on the ballot. The backers of Initiative 91 submitted more than 187 thousand petition signatures.

KGNU’s Jackie Sedley spoke with Samantha Miller, the campaign manager of Cats Aren’t Trophies, or CATS, a coalition that includes nearly 100 wildlife and other organizations.
