Why has U.S. inequality grown so much? What is wrong with the neoliberal “common sense” explanations for the growth of inequality in the U.S? Why does the U.S. differ from other “rich” societies? We then move beyond the economics of inequality to explore how the “Curse” imposes social and psychological costs on us and threatens our collective future.
Bill Barclay, a founding member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA; www.dsausa.org) has written and talked extensively on the curse of inequality in the U.S., the political dynamics of the 2008 elections, the financialization of the U.S. political economy and the logic and need for social market alternative policies in the U.S. He’ll be speaking on the Curse of Inequality on Wednesday April 1st at 7:00 pm at Hooked On Colfax, 3213 E Colfax Ave, Denver at an event hosted by the Denver chapter of the DSA.
