Disembodied Poetics at Naropa Maeve Conran

The Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University is hosting the final week of its Summer writing program. KGNU’s Joe Richey spoke with Creative Director of the program, Anne Waldman, about the importance of poetry in society and what to expect at the Summer program, whose theme is Capital-Ocene.
“Looking at our habitual patterns of greed, hungry ghosts, acquisitiveness…all the unnecessary spending, all the unnecessary making of things that are dangerous to our environment. These islands of trash piling up, plastics and so on, our nuclear obsession, the hungry ghost realm there, the warring god realm. We’re creating the machinery…we’re creating these wars just by buying into all this high tech weaponry that we sell to our enemies.”
Ann Waldman has a new book of poetry “Trickster Feminism” and she will do a reading and book-signing at the Boulder Bookstore at July 17th.
