This week’s Civic Action Calendar will highlight Juneteenth celebrations around the Front Range. Tomorrow, Friday, June 19, is a commemoration of the end of slavery, and a day when Black communities honor the past, present, and future.

Today, June 18th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. the Thornton Arts, Sciences and Humanities Council will have its Juneteenth celebration at the Harley Brown Amphitheater.

The event will feature live performances, food, and family activities. They encourage attendees to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets. More information at thorntonco.gov.

Tomorrow, Friday June 19th from  9 a.m.–9 p.m. the Denver Museum of Nature & Science will honor Juneteenth 

…with special performances, music, and activities for the entire family. More info at DMNS.org.

Tomorrow from 4:30 PM- 9:30 PM, Love Vibes and Denver Pride will host a “For The Culture Cookout” at Cheesman Park. 

It’s an all-ages celebration featuring food, musical performances and DJs, local vendors, community resources, and a vogue night. More info at denverpride.org.

 

Tomorrow from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Briggs St. Books and Being Better Neighbors will host a Juneteenth celebration outside Bridge Refill Market in Erie. 

They will offer a curated selection of books to browse, and live music by DJ Drake. More info at @beingbetterneighbors on Instagram.

 

Tomorrow, Downtown Greeley will host its Juneteenth Friday Fest from 6 p.m.–9:30 p.m. at 9th Street Plaza

…with a jazz concert starring saxophonist Tony Exum Jr., family-friendly crafts, local vendors and opportunities to meet downtown Greeley businesses. Attendees can visit the Marcus Garvey Cultural Center booth to learn more about the history of Juneteenth and check out books. 

 

Saturday, June 20th, the City of Greeley will host its official Juneteenth Celebration from noon–7 p.m. 

…with a family-friendly day of food, vendors, live music and cultural activities. That’s at at Everett Acres in Greeley. More info about both events at GreeleyCO.gov.

 

FoCO Juneteenth will host their “Celebrate Freedom” event beginning Friday and continuing into Saturday. 

Friday’s activities include a teen night for youth ages 10–17 and a concert on the lawn. The Saturday community celebration will feature live music, a health and wellness fair, food trucks, vendor market, educational opportunities and more. That’s at the Foothills Mall and Cultural Enrichment Center in Fort Collins. More info at focojuneteenth.com.

 

Saturday, June 20, Denver’s Juneteenth Music Festival will throw its annual celebration in the Five Points neighborhood.

It starts with a parade from 11 a.m.–12 p.m. on 26th Street from Williams to Welton. The street festival will go from 12 p.m.–8 p.m. and will feature live performances, local vendors, food and family-friendly activities.
