Civic Action Calendar: Week of June 11 KGNU News
It is Thursday, June 11th, and time for your Civic Action Calendar, a weekly summary of actions and events hosted by community-based organizations across the Front Range.
Today, Thursday June 11 from 3pm ‘til dark – Indivisible ND2B and partners will host a demonstration in solidarity with the hundreds of immigrants detained at Delaney Hall in New Jersey.
They will meet at the intersection of Peoria and 30th Avenue, near the Aurora GEO facility. They encourage attendees to bring banners, signs, megaphones, costumes, outrage, and compassion. More information at IndivisibleND2B on Instagram.
Tomorrow, Friday June 12 at 7pm – Denver PSL and partners will hold a “No Trans Bans” World Cup watch party.
They will watch the USA vs. Paraguay game and have a halftime huddle discussion about Trump and FIFA’s most recent attacks on transgender athletes. That’s at 730 21st St in Denver. More info at DenverPSL on Instagram.
Saturday, June 13 at 10am – The Colorado Sun will host a Gubernatorial Candidate Forum.
Elections editor Jesse Paul will ask the two gubernatorial Democratic candidates questions ahead of the June 30 Primary Election. That’s at CSU’s Lory Student Center in Fort Collins. More info and registration at coloradosun.com.
Sunday, June 14 at 7:30 pm – local groups in Superior, Loveland, and Golden will host watch parties for the No Kings “Rise Up, Sing Out!” livestreamed concert.
The concert is hosted by the Committee for the First Amendment, and will feature Jane Fonda, Patti Smith, Bette Midler, Rufus Wainwright, Joy Reid, and more.
The Superior watch party will be at the Civic Center at 5, and will feature appetizers and an art project.
The Loveland watch party will be at Dwayne Webster Memorial Park at 5.
The Golden watch party will be at Common Flame Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 5, and attendees are encouraged to bring finger food appetizers to share.
The Greeley watch party begins at 5:30 at the Unitarian Universalist Church.

Also Sunday, June 14 from 12pm – 4pm – Indivisible CO7 and partners will host a “Flags Against Fascism” Flag Day celebration on the capitol steps.
The group will celebrate Flag Day by reclaiming symbols of freedom, community, and resistance. There will be music and dance, community art, primary and voting information, activism and organizing, mutual aid, community connection, and ice cream. They invite attendees to bring a square to add to their Constitution Quilt, and to bring their favorite flag – or create one in their Design & Dissent Tent. More info at IndivisibleCO7 on Instagram.
