When you Google Claudia De La Cruz, you’ll quickly find summaries of her educational career, her commitment to building people power locally, nationally, and internationally, and her candidacy for President of the United States last year as a member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
And those details are all important parts of her. But, they don’t paint even close to the full picture of who De La Cruz is, what she stands for, and what her vision of change feels like. They don’t help you feel her capacity for emotion, her intrinsic motivation to make a contribution. They don’t help you get to know her as a human being.
As the “unexceptional” human being that she is, to use her own words.
KGNU’s Jackie Sedley sat down with Claudia De La Cruz last Thursday, May 1. De La Cruz arrived the day before, for her Colorado leg of her “Fighting the Billionaire Coup: We Won’t Back Down” tour.
“ We live in a society that tells us that it’s easier for us to see the end of the world than it is to see the end of capitalism,” De La Cruz told Sedley. “And I dare to believe the contrary.”
Here’s Sedley’s conversation with De La Cruz.
