Tens of thousands of people flocked to Denver’s Civic Center Park last Friday for a political rally featuring Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, and New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – commonly known by the acronym AOC.

The rally was part of a national “Fight the Oligarchy” tour by Sanders.

With an official attendance of over 34,000 and thousands more outside the fenced-in area, Sanders proclaimed it the largest crowd of his touring speaking career.

KGNU’s Denver Program Manager Dave Ashton, and KGNU News volunteer Don Davis, both went to the rally. Thanks to them, you’ll hear from several speakers – including Sanders and AOC themselves.

After two unifying musical performances, the crowd was warmed up with remarks from prominent Colorado organized labor leaders outlining recent struggles and victories for workers across slaughterhouses, grocery stores, and classrooms.
