
If you live in Boulder County, you know it’s hard to ignore the staggering lack of racial diversity here. Nearly 90% of Boulder residents identify as white, according to the latest U.S. Census, compared to just 1.3% identifying as Black. One local artist has been working to uplift Black voices and overall representation in the County. Adderly Grant-Lord is an artist, gallery curator, and the creator of “Black Futures in Art: Can You Hear Me?” – a series of exhibitions in Boulder. She, along with Barbara Olson, the art curator at the First United Methodist Church, joined KGNU’s Jackie Sedley in the studio to discuss the past, present, and future of her work and of Black artists in Boulder County.

Grant-Lord’s exhibition at the Dairy Arts Center is on display until Saturday, April 6. Her next exhibition will open the following day, at First United Methodist Church Sunday, April 7.
