A Boulder photographer been taking his camera to the railroads for eight years now. Here’s what he has to show for it

The railroad has been used as a form of transportation for centuries upon centuries – and played a huge role in the development and colonization of the land we now call the United States.

On display at the Boulder Public Library right now, there’s an exhibit that focuses on railroads in the modern day, with an emphasis on the human and natural impacts that change the aesthetic appearance of railroad cars. It’s called Rolling Steel Canvases, and is made up entirely of the work of professional photographer Tad Kline. Tad joined KGNU’s Jackie Sedley in the studio to discuss his exhibit, and the messages he hopes to get across through his work.

Tad Kline, professional photographer and former railroad brakeman. His exhibit, Rolling Steel Canvases, has been on display at the Boulder Public Library since December, and will stay for public viewing until the end of January. There’s a reception at 5 p.m. tonight, January 9th, with a presentation by Tad at 6 p.m., in the Boulder Creek Room at the Boulder Public Library on Arapahoe.
