100 years of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom

“The intent was to show that women could stand together despite the militarism and nationalism that was tearing apart Europe.”

The Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom was founded in April 1915 as an effort by suffragettes and social reformers to protest the war.”

Anne Marie Pois, has been a member of WILPF since 1989. Pois says WILPF is the oldest international women’s peace organization and has played a role in calling for peace from World War I through the current conflicts of today.
