Boulder’s Upstart Crow Theatre Company begins its 44th season with The Dover Road by A.A.
Milne, a comedy about marriage and divorce.
Leonard and Anne are running away together. They’re taking the Dover Road to cross the
channel into France; once Leonard divorces his wife, he and Anne will marry. But their car
breaks down and they seek assistance at a house that the butler who answers the door assures
them is “a sort of hotel.”
It’s really the home of wealthy and eccentric Mr. Latimer, who informs them he’s lured them
there on purpose, and they’ll have to stay a week to see whether they’re compatible enough to
make a successful marriage.
Leonard and Anne don’t know what to make of their situation – and an even bigger surprise
awaits them.
Come enjoy the charm of Mr. Latimer’s “old-world courtesy and hospitality” and follow the comic
adventures of his guests as the course of true love definitely takes a detour.
The Dover Road plays August 22-25 and August 29-September 1 at the Carsen Theater in the
Dairy Arts Center, 2590 Walnut Street, Boulder, CO. Thursdays through Saturdays have a
7:30pm curtain; Sundays are a 2:00pm matinee. Thursdays are Name-Your-Price Night.
