Soul-Folk Magic with BrightSide Blue, Saoirse Watters and Robin Liepman @ Roots Music Project

August 1 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm MDT

BrightSide Blue is a California based duo that performs a live looping set filled with lush vocal harmonies, virtuosic guitar work, and wildcrafted lyricism. Ananda and Lindsay are storytellers, spirit listeners, and songhealers on a mission to open a field of magic through music in which anything is possible. Sometimes bluesy and rocking, sometimes soft and ethereal, the sounds never fail to provide us with powerful medicine for the moment.

“This love story has a soundtrack.” Lindsay Bellows and Ananda Vaughan have found the perfect complements in each other: Lindsay is a soulful songbird, who soars and dives over the dewey textures of Ananda’s musical landscapes. Equal parts groove and melody, their songs keep audiences delightfully engaged — dancing, singing along, and basking in the love for life that radiates from this couple.

Ananda trained for many years as a jazz guitarist, and has found inspiration in other guitar masters from rock, folk and world music. Lindsay grew up with pop and R&B music, and studied the influencers of her childhood idols — the soul and blues singers of the mid 20th century. The pair brings together the best of all these genres to create a sound that is delivered in a spirit of care, humor, and hopes for a better world.

Saoirse Wattersis a performer, artist, eco-feminist, folk herbalist, permaculturist, and ritual weaver. As a musician she plays the harp, ukulele, and hand drum. She performs her original music, world music styles in many languages, classical improvisational style, and some pop/modern contemporary favorites. Her music is contemporary radical folk that is her own, unique style.

Robin Liepman, Colorado-based singer/songwriter, most often seen DJing under the name Bloomurian, has a plethora of songs under his belt, written throughout nearly a decade of traveling the world with a guitar. These songs mark many significant moments of his life, and poetically illustrate epiphanies and lessons he’s learned along the way. Robin’s songs are intended to catalyze group singing, with choruses that are easy to catch onto. These songs are inspired by nature, ceremony, and the wonder of being alive.
