Songcraft: Christian Porter, Anna Cutler, Many Mountains, Megan Glover.

June 4 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm MDT

This project is funded in part by a grant from the Boulder Arts Commission, an agency of the Boulder City Council.

Songwriters are the architects of sonic emotion, crafting universes in three-minute masterpieces. They wield metaphors like paintbrushes, infuse stories with heartbeats, and turn silence into a canvas of resonance. In the grand amphitheater of musical creation, songwriters stand as the virtuoso architects, building bridges between hearts and harmonies, reminding us that life’s cadence is most vividly felt when painted with the ink of their genius. With the Songcraft Series, Christopher Morse and Ian Steele will bring local songwriters to Roots Music Project to share their craft and stories.

This month features:

Christian Porter:

Christian Porter is an exceptionally talented singer, songwriter, performer, and producer hailing from Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania now residing in Denver, Colorado. From a young age, Christian’s musical journey began when he first discovered the enchanting melodies of the piano. This initial spark ignited a profound passion for music, propelling him to explore and master a diverse range of instruments including the guitar, drums, bass, ukulele, and mandolin.

Anna Cutler:

Anna Cutler is a singer/songwriter and keyboardist based out of Boulder, Colorado. She started playing the keyboard at the age of six, by 13 she had booked her first gig, and by 18 she had performed to a crowd of 3,000 people.

Above anything else, Anna is an entertainer. Inspired by other singer-songwriters like Norah Jones and John Craigie, she loves to connect with fans through lyrics and storytelling. She often sings about the romance of life and the downfalls of love, and offers her audience a bit of comic relief in-between songs. She shines brightest when performing live, and captivates the crowd, whatever the size, with her witty charm and truthful portrayal of life.

Many Mountains:

Forming in Colorado as Many Mountains in 2013, Katie Rose Nelson and Dustin Moran bring a genre-bending sound to folk-rock. Various influences trickle through their music to create something fresh yet familiar. Their songs are interlaced with vocal harmonies and leads that alternate between the two songwriters, creating a rich and lasting sound with lyrics that reflect on the relationship we have with ourselves and others – bringing truths to the table, facing who we are, and the constant state of becoming. Dustin adds textured and ambient electric guitar over Katie Rose’s rhythmic acoustic, often improvising with jazzy temperance. Having shared the bill with acts like Gin Blossoms, Paul Cauthen, Dylan LeBlanc, and Valley Queen their sound transcends ordinary genre limitations. Supported by the sonic landscape they create, you’ll be on a journey with Many Mountains.

Megan Glover:

Megan Glover has traveled across the country and across genres from North Carolina and opera to Colorado and Indie Pop music. She uses her unique experiences from these travels as well as within the performance industry and her bachelors of music to create unique, emotionally charged music. She was dubbed “An Emotional Woman at a Piano” by a friend and Megan embraces that title with pride. With one EP released in 2023, Megan is working on releasing her first full length record in 2024. Find her EP “Murphy’s Law” on all major streaming services and follow @meganglovermusic on Instagram!
